Commissioned as a 25th-anniversary gift for dear friends, this portrait, aptly titled '25th Anniversary,' marks my inaugural foray into commissioned work.

The pressure to capture a likeness worthy of such a milestone was immense, turning a beloved photograph into a meticulous graphite rendering.

The grid, a foundational tool, guided my hand as I layered graphite to build depth and nuance, particularly in the intricate details of the hat. Every stroke was a testament to the years of shared memories and enduring friendship.

Presenting this piece was a moment of vulnerability, knowing its imperfections. Yet, like any anniversary, it was received with warmth and understanding, a celebration of love's enduring journey. My connection to this couple, having served as an usher at their wedding, added a personal layer to the piece, making it more than just a portrait, but a tangible memory of their shared history.
