I was brimming with joy at how this piece unfolded and materialized. With this being only my third original work, I embraced a sense of exploration, starting with a rudimentary outline and allowing the composition to take shape as I progressed.
The introduction of orchids, for instance, was an unanticipated element that emerged during the drawing process. The left portrait captures my mother at eighteen, amidst the serene backdrop of the Kent countryside, while the right portrait is a photograph that I took on her ninetieth birthday.
This artwork was a present on my mother's 90th Birthday, something unique that she could treasure during her remaining years.
