About this artwork

I started this piece straight after a weekend course with a master of Hyper Realism, Emanuele Dascanio, who taught some techniques unfamiliar to me so I used this artwork to cement my learning. (This was probably not the best idea for a commission but my eagerness to learn overtook my common sense)

It's made with Graphite pencils but with very little blending, which is quite a common technique for pencil artists.

This piece represented a new understanding in technicality and rendering for me and I was delighted with the result. It took me 230 Hours to produce as the detail on the dogs fur was very complicated but I was determined to get it as near to the reference as I could. I was delighted to hear that my client was overjoyed with the result and 'Toffee' now hangs happily in their home for them to enjoy.
