Mo Bailey

Hi, I’m Mo, a self-taught artist working primarily in pastels, oils, graphite and charcoal, with a particular love of portraiture. My work spans figurative, animal and wildlife art, but at the heart of it all is my fascination with people, expression and emotion.

Art was always the career I wanted, although I took the scenic route! I became a professional artist later in life and have loved the journey of learning, experimenting and developing my own style—with the occasional bout of artistic frustration along the way!

My figurative work is inspired by childhood memories and those ordinary little moments that become treasured memories over time. I often draw on moments from my own children and family life hoping to create that same sense of nostalgia and emotion in the viewer.

My love of dogs naturally led me to animal portraiture, while my fascination with wildlife allows me to explore the character and individuality of animals. I’m especially drawn to faces and expressions—whether human or animal.

My work has received recognition in both areas, including selection for the 164th Open Exhibition of the Society of Women Artists at the Mall Galleries, London alongside awards for my figurative and animal art.
