About this artwork

"Did Someone Say Treats" is a portrait of our family dog Bella, inspired by a photograph taken by my husband. Bella was well known for this typical pose — one ear up, one ear down — giving her that wonderfully cheeky and unmistakable expression.

This piece was selected for the "Society of Women Artists" 164th Open Exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London and it now has a very different home! Rather than hanging in our lounge, Bella can be found on the walls of the "Rose & Crown " pub in Knutsford, Cheshire, alongside my portrait of Abe.

I was invited to create a selection of dog portraits for the pub, which is wonderfully dog-friendly and has a lovely old-world character. It seemed the perfect home for Bella — although I suspect she would be far more interested in the treats than the artwork!
