"Abe" is a beautiful brown Labrador who lives in Wisconsin, USA. His portrait now hangs at the "Rose & Crown" pub in Knutsford Cheshire, a wonderfully old-worldly, dog-friendly pub, and is one of two dog portraits I was invited to create for its walls.
I chose to paint Abe after seeing a photograph his owner had shared on Facebook. I was immediately drawn to his amazing eyes and that soft, gentle gaze — there was something about his expression that I knew would translate beautifully into a portrait.
Abe’s owners also have a print of the portrait at home in Wisconsin, so although the original has found a home here in Knutsford, a little piece of Abe has travelled back across the Atlantic to his family.
