„Flowered Frida” is a mixed-media portrait inspired by the visual language and symbolic intensity of a legendary female artist. Executed in oil on newspapers with collage, texture and gold leaf, the work explores identity, resilience and self-mythology.
The use of archival newspaper fragments introduces a historical and political undertone, while gold leaf functions as both ornament and iconographic reference — elevating the subject beyond portraiture into a contemporary emblem of feminine sovereignty. The surface is deliberately distressed, allowing materiality to carry meaning alongside the image.
