SOLAR GRAVITY is an original textured mixed media painting inspired by the relationship between the Sun and Earth.
The large golden form represents the Sun, while the smaller grey circle suggests the Earth beneath its influence. I used genuine gold leaf to emphasise the presence of the Sun and create a surface that changes beautifully with the light.
The painting is built from multiple layers of texture, paint, shading, marks and subtle details. Some elements are deliberately left raw and imperfect, allowing the different layers to remain visible. Up close, the surface becomes highly tactile, revealing details that are easy to miss from a distance.
The combination of gold, warm neutrals, grey and black marks gives SOLAR GRAVITY a calm but distinctive presence. It works beautifully as a statement piece in contemporary, minimalist, Japandi, neutral and modern interiors.
I wanted this original textured painting to feel quiet at first, but reveal more every time you look at it.
