This original landscape was developed through a focused layering process designed to capture the luminous quality of a morning by the water. The composition began with a series of fluid, blended acrylic layers to establish the soft, hazy light of the distant horizon and the gentle movement of the lake.
To bring a sense of physical presence and depth to the foreground, I utilised an impasto technique for the silver birch trees and the rugged path area. By applying the paint thickly, I was able to create a tactile, three-dimensional texture that replicates the rough bark of the birch and the uneven terrain of the shoreline. This contrast between the smooth, atmospheric background and the bold, raised textures of the foreground invites the viewer to experience the scene not just as a vista, but as a tangible place.
