I am a Sussex-based figurative painter, retired doctor, and largely self-taught. I have exhibited at the Mall Gallery, the Chichester Ox Market, and Worthing's Montague Gallery, and am a member of the Association of Sussex Artists. I used to exhibit with Horsham Artists at Trails and Fairs but now, due to mobility problems, I am exploring the possibilities of marketing on line and through social media.
In the past I have worked successfully in watercolours and oils, but now I work mainly in acrylics, as I love their versatility - paints, inks, and mediums - but at times also use mixed media, depending on the subject.
As I can't now so much, and my inspiration has changed from landscape-based to imagination-based. Ideas come from nature, travels, stories, memories, and random encounters with art in different forms. To these I add imagination, fantasy, and colour, and try to produce art which is unusual, intriguing, and joyful - and appealing to the young in heart.
