Peonies are my favorite flowers and I painted them a lot throughout the years. This soft pastel painting came as an urgent desire to catch the passing beauty of the peonies when I brought them home from my garden after a few days of heavy rain in May 2026 ( I wanted to save them from inclement weather, but also I wanted to catch their messiness and tenderness at the same time). It is a quick first-impression study, when I allowed myself not to think about composition or colour scheme, but follow the feelings and express the beauty through the lines and all sort of pink colour.
