These sailing boats from the eastern ports of the USA and Canada were used to fish the Atlantic Grand Banks. Small boats(Dories) were launched from them to do the fishing -a very hazardous task. A surviving bluenose schooner is based at Halifax, Nova Scotia, which I was fortunate to see when on holiday in Canada.
