For the past decade, I have been teaching art in a prison, a role that has been both challenging and incredibly rewarding. Beyond teaching, my passion lies in painting and practicing yoga, often merging the two to create fluid, expressive watercolour pieces.
Watercolour is my preferred medium—I love its unpredictability, transparency, and the way it flows effortlessly across the paper, much like emotion in art. My work celebrates beauty, particularly through flowers and the female form, embracing both vulnerability and strength. I have also enjoyed painting pet portraits, capturing the unique essence of each subject.
I find endless inspiration in Frida Kahlo—not just as an artist, but as an icon of resilience, creativity, and self-expression. Her bold use of colour, her love for flowers, and her statement jewellery all influence my own artistic approach. Like Frida, I believe art is deeply personal and should tell a story, whether through symbolic elements, vibrant hues, or raw emotion. The way she adorned herself—with bright blossoms, striking earrings, and a fearless sense of identity—reminds me that art isn’t just what we create, but how we present ourselves to the world.
