About this artwork

This painting hangs in my daughter’s front room and complements her turquoise walls.

This image presents a vibrant and surreal landscape that is rich in colour and metaphor. At the centre are two trees, one large and one smaller, both with bare, twisting branches reaching outwards like delicate veins or nerves. The larger tree bends gracefully, as if caught in a gentle breeze, while the smaller tree mirrors the shape but on a more diminutive and fragile scale.

The ground where these trees stand is rendered in a mosaic-like pattern of blue and green, resembling interconnected roots or veins beneath the surface. This choice hints at a deeper connection or life force that sustains the trees above.

In the background, the sky is a luminous swirl of pastel shades—pinks, purples, oranges and blues—creating an ethereal atmosphere that feels simultaneously cosmic and dreamlike. Two celestial bodies float in this sky: a larger blue-green sphere behind the main tree and a smaller one near the top right, each surrounded by a glowing halo. These orbs evoke moons or planets, suggesting themes of duality, balance or the passage of time.

Artistic interpretations of this piece might focus on themes like growth, nature’s resilience, and the intricate relationship between life and the universe. The contrast between the bare trees and the rich colours around them could symbolise vulnerability amidst beauty or the intertwining of the natural and cosmic worlds.

Overall, the image invites quiet reflection, with its flowing lines and radiant colours forming a harmony that is both meditative and inspiring.
