Waterlillies emerging from the depths before my very eyes as I paint them en plein air. The newest leaves are red and buds are opening. The water is dark, mysterious.
There is something about sitting by the loch and seeing the changing light and colours. . I don't think many artists paint water lilies from life in Scotland because it can be challenging. Midges can happen, sudden winds blowing my paper into the loch - rising damp. But for me it was magical and I hope I have conveyed some of that.
