Often, I find myself captured by the beauty of the West Country, and the life and habitat of the creatures it holds.
My passion for making visual notes while I am walking ignites my creative expressions, which later come to life in my studio. I try to capture a likeness of the creatures I paint. To portray their character I enhance their environments with colour or embellishments. Hopefully, evoking a sense of place and attachment towards the viewer.
During the creative process my initial ideas change. This is when painting in acrylic or oil paint is preferable to watercolours. Mixing these mediums helps to give paintings a strong colourful voice.
