I graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1998, where I was the recipient of ?the American Friends of Glasgow Art School? I was also selected as one of Sotheby?s International Young Artists 1999.My work has been exhibited at Sotheby?s in Chicago and Tel-Aviv, the Royal Society of Scottish Artists (Edinburgh), the Glasgow Art Fair, Glasgow Institute and the RGI Christmas show-Kelly Gallery, Glasgow. I exhibit continuously within Christo?s Gallery and Macgregor Fine Art Gallery, GlasgowMy subject matter in painting has become more and more centred in the study of fruit, the lushness; strength and fragility. Metaphor for the feminine, fruit is symbolic of life, hope, fertility, death & regeneration, crammed with meaning & hidden desire. Fruit at its moment of absolute prime, begins to degenerate; giving of itself for the next generation. I am intrigued by an implied human presence within my subject matter, the juxtaposition of the subjects and use of colour create a narrative, suggesting emotions, time and place without direct statement. The size of support is dependent on whether I wish to imply monumentality or intimacy. I aim to capture the inner luminosity through use of extended layers of glaze and chiaroscuro, in some work I incorporate a variety of materials with glazing to depict the texture of the subject, whilst in others only glazing.
