I graduated in 2000 with a 1st Class Honours in Illustration and began exploring various avenues in the commercial art world, such as children's book design. Following an inspirational study of southern France, I decided to instead turn my hand to painting French townscapes. I focused initially on the rustic buildings themselves, rich in colour and textures, with shuttered facades and crumbling masonry. However the interest soon spread to capturing the café-bar way of life out there and in other European cities. More recently I have enjoyed painting subjects closer to home such as London landmarks and the southern riviera.

The town I first fell in love with: Uzes, France 2003My style has evolved over the years and I now really enjoy using mixed media in my paintings. It adds intrigue and resonance to the artwork whilst proving to be a fun and liberal way of working. My impatient side loves the speed with which a painting can take shape using collage and I will often allow the initial layers to peep through. In this way the finished article has character and is appealing both from afar and up close.

Thanks to a good agent (www.portfolioselect.co.uk) and plenty of determination, I now license artwork with leading publishers worldwide and 2011 promises to be a rewarding year ahead. I am available for private commissions and originals are for sale (if you have any queries please feel free to contact me
