Terry is a relative newcomer to painting having only started seriously in 2006.
With only a few paintings under his belt, it was around this time that he decided to enter a national competition with a painting inspired by a dramatic storm while holidaying in Greece.
To his astonishment, it won a place in the much coveted Mall Gallery in London – so not bad for a complete beginner!
Spurred on by this early success, he began to paint on a more regular basis, achieving moderate success exhibiting in local galleries.
A further significant event in the form of a painting holiday to the Dordogne (a birthday gift from his children) proved to be a valuable lesson in the art of watercolour - working 'en plein air' while enjoying the delights of the French countryside and coastal areas.
He currently enjoys the challenges of working with Acrylic and watercolour across a wide variety of subjects and styles.
Although Terry attended art college on a full time basis where he attained his degree, he was never taught to paint – just the history of it!
He finds the whole process of painting a never ending learning curve and just wishes he'd started thirty years earlier!
