My paintings evolve from a fascination with the complexity and variation of flowers that?s been with me from childhood. They are an exploration of memory and colour, combined with dreams and imagination, folklore, from travelling and personal experiences, sometimes bordering on the edge of surrealism. Having studied art therapy, I hope to reach into the depths of the psyche to relate those hidden stories we all know, somewhere inside of us. My influences are firstly everything I see, feel and experience. Women artists, such as Georgia O?Keefe, gave me a sense of colour, and Frida Khalo and Leonora Carrington have been very influential in the storytelling. I use various forms of music to influence and enhance colour and movement whilst painting, as I find this gives an added passion and physiological presence. There is no right or wrong way of understanding any of my paintings, but rather what you take from the image ? it should speak for itself, touch you in your own heart and resonate with you long after viewing.
