My name is Srirangam Mohankumar; Kumar to my friends and family, and from a very young age I have been painting and sketching.
My main subject would be landscapes, rustic buildings, rolling skies, waterways, street scenes, boats and harbours.
I continue to be fascinated by the constant changing mood and atmosphere of the world around us.
Normally I prefer to do my work outdoors, weather permitting (en plein air), most often I strive to develop the sketches in my home studio. My paintings are predominantly done in watercolour, because I love the magical fluidity and particularly the challenges of its unpredictability!
I love to travel around the British Isles to find inspiration, and paint on location. From time to time I also escape to places such as France, Italy and Spain to capture the contrasting colours and architecture etc.
A highlight of my career was the great honour of meeting the HRH Queen Mother at an exhibition of British artists, where some of my earlier paintings were on show.
I support a number of charities, including Feet First, Blue Sky and North West Air Ambulance.
