Although I developed an interest in art while at school, my real interest started as a cartoonist in the mid 1960s when I was about 18 years old. But over a period of time I gradually moved into experimental art in an attempt to find my real self as an artist. As a result of that, one of my great successes was the creation of magnet art in the early 1970s, which had drawn interest from the media and the regional TV. Although I describe myself as a self-taught artist, I did however undertake a two-year full-time at Art College in the mid 1980s studying graphic design and illustration. During that time I had received a distinction for illustration and after completing the course I began freelancing to the print trade designing various paper products, stationary, corporate identities, advertising etc., while at the same time continued with my passion of painting nature. My main subject area has been flowers and landscapes, but I have ocassionally produced drawings of people and animal portraits. In 2005 my work was juried by the Worldwide Nature Artists' Group based in Canada, after which I was invited to become a signatory member. This elite group of nature artists produce works of art to a high standard of acceptance, some of which are donated to the preservation of nature.
