I was born in Glasgow, started my art training on a one year Pre Diploma course at Calisle College of Art and Design. After a fascenating and enlightening year, I applied and was accepted for a four a year course at Edinburgh College of Art, during which I won The Royal Scottish AcademyYoung Contemporaries Chalmers Bursery Award. I then accepted a Post Graduate Scholarship from the college whiich provided me with my own studio in their Edinburgh Georgian Townhouse, from which I received a Highly Commended commendation. I then gained a summer Travelling Scholarship to Italy, This started my love for travel and search for that special light that brings the magic to any subject, whether its in the Mediterian, Cornwall or the Caribbean.
I gained my Post Graduate Teaching Certificate at Leeds University and have taught in Scotland and England for 25 years. Having recently taken early retirement, I have joined a group of fellow Artists in an amazing studio complex at Harrison Mills in Nottinghamshire. I paint in oils and have recently been experimenting in Acrylics and enjoy their amazing colour range and versitility. Earlier this year I exhibited at Patchings International Open Compition in which I was awarded The St Cuthberts Award. My most recent success has been to have the maximum number of entries accepted at The Mall Galleries London in The Royal Society of Marine Artists 2014 Open Comptetion.
