Entirely self taught, I find it frustrating, yet liberating to try to show people the world the way I see it. Having said 'self-taught', I consider JMW Turner and Constable to be my teachers; everything I know about painting I have learned from looking at their work and trying to bring the elements I admire into my own. Like Turner, I'm absolutely obsessed with light, and I aim to try and capture the atmosphere of places in my paintings, rather than details.

I'm idealist - some may say that's a naiive attitude to have, but personally I'd rather look to see the good in things. If I cant find it, I make it myself through my art.

I completed a BA in Comparative Literature at UKC, but when I graduated last year, I realised that I had spent more time drawing and painting than I had done reading and writing. I am constantly creating something, and am at my absolute happiest when I'm painting, so to try to pursue it as a career seems to me to be a natural progression. If there is one thing I've learned, it is that life is far too short to waste it kicking yourself for not doing things you wanted to when you had the chance.
