To Michael Berry there is only one medium in art and that is 'thinking'. He sees visual art as a universal language which can be learned through the action of it, and as such its cultural usage reflects society's psychological morality and mind set.

His pictures and sculptures challenge accepted notions of concrete image making, fixed viewpoints, the self as the centre of the cosmos, classical pictorial perspective, colour as theory, the role of negative and positive spaces, and the observer's autonomy in the picture plane.

Berry's paintings are up-tempo abstracted spatial explorations in a cacophony of colour cadences, multi-layered dimensions, looping and diving calligraphic line, and shifting shapes and forms - the logic of the eye and mind in complete harmony - the child state.
