I am an amateur painter. When I retired in 2002 I went to adult classes at Northbrooke Met College in Worthing, where I specialised in both portraiture and general subjects such as Landscapes and Townscapes. Membership of the West Sussex and Arun Art Societies has enabled me to exhibit and sell my work. I have also undertaken portraiture commissions working from photographs. My favourite mediums to work with are oils, acrylics, charcoal and graphite. If possible, I like to work 'plein aire'; otherwise I use photos, watercolour and pencil sketches as references. Figurative and impressionistic would probably describe my style, with Van Gogh and the Impressionist being a source of inspiration. Hashim Akib and Pete the Street Smith are styles which I admire.
