Artist statement

As an artist, I work hard to develop paintings that speak both to me and to others. Part of my process before I begin painting is to look at a subject (physical or imaginary) that i am about to recreate on canvas.

I do not merely want to capture the image with my brushes; rather, with careful, colorful strokes, I want it to come alive to the viewer.

I try to breathe life into a painting and pleasure for my audience .i want
my artwork to speak, not only for me, but for the common man who feels silenced.

Works: Core values of a complex person by Tomo,
Abstract. 2012, Acrylic on canvas. 60 x 40 cm.

The work is the interpretation of the values held by a person who through a life of chaos and events has finally found equilibrium and contentment. Colour, line, form, and shapes create a picture of chaos, the upward linear features express complexity and all these are released to the canvas expressing the values through the person’s inner vision.
