Born in Warwickshire 1965. Art has been a great part of most of my life from a very early age. Doing comic strips for magazines , christmas cards, insert pictures for books. Introduced to photography late teens studying peoples faces to paint. Word of mouth got me painting everything from people , dogs, and cats to buildings on request.Completed a few murals .
Having brushed with the hand of death and survived my reasons for still being here are still not understood. My art changes in media, style and form dependant on my moods.
I create as a form of therapy mainly.
When tears roll down the face of someone studying your work because they love it so much…you know you must be doing something right.
Pain, love, grief and living drive me to give back to this world ….having buried another son recently Art and Poetry are my only release.
Some of my works can be viewed online at:- www.mandythomas.com
Voted artist of the year in 2007 at the Inkspot Gallery in U.K.came 3rd 2009. Work mainly in pastels with watercolours, acrylics, gels and pencils.
Having exhibited in a few places now including the Bath Royal Crescent. I am learning not only to develop as an artist but to communicate with people in the art world
Studying the many forms of art over the years I have been inspired by ‘Monet’ ‘Dahli’ ‘Goya”Rembrandt’ but the two that hold presidence in my heart are ‘Leonardo da Vinci’ and ‘Michelangelo’.
As to recent artists ‘David Shepherd’ Introduced the animal kingdom into my world I aspire to become as good as he is(long way to go yet though.’Roger Dean’ and then ‘Julie Bell’ took me through my teens with their wonderful fantasy art.I write poetry also and my saviour has been ‘Pam Ayres’ with her jovial outlook on life. The greats such as ‘Robert Browning’ ‘Longfellow”Wordsworth’To name but a few don my bookshelves.Music inspires me to be creative too ‘Jean Michel Jarre’ ‘Enya’ Most classical pieces help the mind to wander.
