I have no formal art training, but have always enjoyed art, from childhood. I’ve worked in most mediums - in fact all mediums! But have now found myself enjoying coloured pencil work, and producing pet portraits. I have no doubt I’ll return on and off to all the other mediums too, but the pencils, whether pencil/graphite or coloured, lend themselves beautifully to the detail of fine art pet portraits. I’m also producing digital pet portraits, which are more contemporary and not nearly as time consuming.
Finally, when it comes to larger pieces of work, I enjoy assemblage art; this is fun and extremely creative. It’s a very time consuming process, from sourcing the embellishments; assembling them onto the canvas; then layers of gesso and acrylic paint.
