I am an artist in textiles and mixed media. I studied Textile Design BA(hons) and I have worked as a freelance textile designer creating fashion fabrics with a focus on embroidery. At present, I use an eclectic mix of textiles, hand & machine embroidery, mixed media, paint, collage and vintage materials to create original art works, prints, crafts and cards. In all my chosen mediums, I express a signature use of atmospheric hues, placement and distortion of materials to create works which can be abstract or literal in form. I am fascinated by texture and tactile surfaces and I am inspired by nature, the sea, the ephemeral effects of the elements, decay, nostalgia, emotions, sentiment, everything vintage and old photographs. I have exhibited in the north east region and I am available for commissions. I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy creating it. Laura x
