As a boy I spent hours watching my father, a superb portrait artist, at work. Other than this I am self taught. As a singer and operatic tenor, my subject matter is mainly influenced by music, particularly Italian opera. I like to work in both acrylics and oils and I use a technique which is very much based on improvisation building a picture as I go along wherever my imagination takes me. All of my work is original, I do not deal in prints and even though I may base a work on the same subject more than once, each painting is highly individual and different.
