Born in 1969 I currently live in Surrey with my husband and two children. I trained at Winchester School of Art graduating with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 1994, and then two years later with an MA in Applied Fine Art from Kingston University. My working life began as a manager of an art shop, further to which I worked for many years as a designer for IKEA, deciding to leave after the birth of my second child in 2001. On returning to work I chose to change direction, retraining as an adult education tutor, after which I worked for the local authority as an art tutor for the next six years. I now work full-time as an artist and tutor, running classes from my own studio in Woking. I teach in a variety of drawing and painting media, and encourage my students to experiment with materials and styles, something that is reflected in my own work. Currently my work reflects my interest in the complex patterns and rhythms found in masses, whether that is in crowds of people, flocks of birds, flower meadows, water or trees. I believe in the importance of composition and drawing as the foundations of good painting, and consider my paintings to be ?drawings done with a brush? the significance of which can be seen clearly in my work.I exhibit and sell my work widely and I am a full member of both Guildford and Woking Art societies, as well as Marwell International Wildlife Art Society.
