'Winter Bracken' soft pastel painting on 'Pastelmat'.
Worked from a photograph taken whilst visiting Cannock Chase, Staffordshire. Bracken is a common and historically important plant in Cannock Chase, once used for bedding, compost, and pottery packing, but today it is managed to protect fragile heathland habitats.
