Having grown up in England and worked in France, a chance visit to Antigua in the Caribbean led to me moving here in 1984. Since then I have been able to fulfil my childhood dream of painting full time. Not lacking in inspiration and surrounded by beautiful tropical fauna & flora & marine scenes, I have slowly developed various techniques in watercolour & acrylic to capture these subjects on paper, canvas & wood. Basically figurative but often with abstract overtones, my paintings capture the amazing colour & light of the Caribbean.I also very much enjoy painting nudes (not many clothes required in this hot climate!) and portraits of dogs and cats. The latter is a recent accomplishment which has met with much success, I'm glad to say, pleasing both the pet owners and myself in caprturing the essential characters and spirits of of these animals (see www.gillygobinet.com).
I run an art gallery (where I also paint) full time at Sandals Grande Resort & Spa in Antigua.
