I’m a self-taught artist, who has also received private lessons and participated in fine-art courses, including courses on portraiture, the theory of art and How to Draw, led by David Brody, Professor of painting and drawing at the University of Washington.
I work in a wide range of media, from graphite to watercolour and oils. I particularly enjoy painting with watercolour on silk, exploiting what I call ‘the glowing beauty’ in the luminous transparency of both materials, and in oils I work mainly with palette-knives.
I find inspiration in the changing moods of nature. I enjoy drawing portraits but also relishes bright colours, which I regard as a means of creating happy emotions in those who view my art.
I have shown my work at a wide range of exhibitions, in Switzerland, Italy, Hungary and Russia, as well as the UK, and often submits work for competitions. Proud to be one of twelve winning artists of The Cambridge Invitational Art Contest and Exhibition 2022, organized by the team Galeria Moderna, Castle Fine Art and Cass Art. Also proud of creating Christmas cards for the local Catholic church in Huntingdon.
My paintings are in private collections in UK, USA, France and Norway.
