Derylie Mountford BA Hons (history of design)

I studied art at the Byam Shaw and St Martins, but have been drawing almost compulsively, since before I could walk.

I have exhibited with the Royal Academy and regularly at the Mall and Westminster Galleries with, among others, the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Society of Miniature Painters Sculptors and Printmakers, and the Society of Women Artists of which I was a member for many years.

I have had one man shows in Japan, London and Cambridge; contributed to numerous group exhibitions in public galleries including Brighton Museum, Bury St Edmunds Art Gallery, the Fry Art Gallery, Saffron Walden Arts Centre, Cambridge Guild Hall, the East of England Show; as well as selling work in many commercial galleries in London, and other major cities and have work in public and private collections in Britain, USA, Japan, New Zealand and Australia where I recently took part in a touring exhibition of artist’s books on fairy tales.

I often like to draw from the imagination, my subject matter taken from the natural world: trees, animals, figures, rocks and streams. I use various media; oils, pencil and water colour, but since studying printmaking at Cambridge College of Art, much of my work has been etchings and woodcuts.
