I am a self taught artist, most of my work is with acrylics, but I do use other mediums.
I have started painting with rags rather than traditional paint brushes although I still use them in some of my works. Rags help me pull and twist the paint to get the texture and look that I want; the paint is mixed on the canvas. The picture builds as I go along; although I have an idea of what I want some times I am led by how the paint is going on the canvas. This way of working isn?t always successful and can be quite expensive throwing away the pieces that haven?t worked, however I find it to be very fullfilling when the colours intermix with each other and if you look carefully you can see the colours I have used. Every time you look at them you can see different colours. The texture that I get with this style helps catch the light that can change the appearance of the work.
I have only been exhibiting my work since early 2007 but I am pleased with the response I receive, my work now hangs in private collections in the UK and in Spain.
