I began painting watercolour and drawing years ago when I lived in the south of Tenerife, dazzled by the light and colours of the unusual landscape of the island. Reddish volcanic soils, lush greenery of cactus and tabaibas and the ubiquitous blue of the sea.

My art teacher was a professional chinese painter who applied zen philosophy when painting. In Madrid I attended several private art studios (charcoal drawing, oil painting and watercolour) with plein air painting sessions. Back in the Canary islands, where I live, I go on painting its wonderful seascape and nature.

In my paintings I intend to express my vision of landscape. I like using soft colours, that give me serenity, and I look for beautiful spots. I enjoy painting as much as searching for the theme and composition, preferably land and seascapes. I try to transmit the joy that nature produces in me, and I don’t want to work on the details nor explain everything. I intend that the viewer finishes interpreting the painting. The watercolours, are also the result of thorough observation, analysis and synthesis, which turn into spontaneous and intuitive brush strokes, in which the water also plays its role.
