Born in St Helens, Merseyside in 1973, I have been drawing and painting since I can remember. I recall winning several art competitions with my art as a youngster. At twenty three I gained a Bachelor of Design Degree from Duncan of Jordanstone college of art and my career headed in the graphic design and illustration direction for a long time.
Eventually unfulfilled and disillusioned with the world of graphics and following two redundancies, I took to his art again only two years ago, after a gap of many years. I am very fulfilled in my work and find inspiration in nature. I enjoy the energy of the world around us and try to reflect this through bright florals and uplifting landscapes, which all reflect my strong inherent sense of colour use and enjoyment of using thick paint.
I am influenced particularly by the wildflowers and trees around us and have a unique way of reflecting their intricate design and energy onto the canvas. I'm reportedly "An exciting Northern artist to watch"!
