Educated at High Wycombe College of Art (Foundation) and then onto Berkshire College of Art, Maidenhead and Reading for Diploma in Art and Design (Majored in Film and Photography. I took up a career in Radio and Broadcasting ending up as a Producer with the BBC.
On retiring from the world of media I started my own art gallery and antiques shop in Bourne End, Bucks and decided to start painting again. In 2000 we packed up home and emigrated to South Devon, where it would appear every other person is a painter or artist.
I've exhibited at several galleries in the London area including the Mall Galleries as well as Cornwall, and South Devon. In the dim and distant past I had several one man shows in now long defunct galleries in Copenhagen and Berlin.
I prefer to paint and draw figurative subjects. I am experimenting with strong colour and themes that call on more than just decorative or photographic proceedures. Whatever happened to art with meaning in the post pop art world. I am a member of the Devon Art Society and was Highly Commended in 2008 Exhibition for Best Painting with The Attwell Trophy. Highly Commended again in 2009 Exhibition for The Presidents Cup and Best Painting and in 2010 at the Spring Exhibition was Highly Commended with The Ron Oates Award for Best Acrylic Painting and as Overall Winner of the Best Painting in Exhibition Award and The Attwell Trophy.
Things are looking up with two solo exhibitions planned for 2010 and 2011.
Favoured painters include: Munch, Sickert, Atlan, Auerbach & Kossoff, Derain, Lenkiewicz, Freud, Degas, Christian Rolfe and JD Fergusson.
