I was born in Salisbury in 1946, and have lived in Frome since 1974. I paint in a representative way, with a particular interest in shape, pattern and design. Often a particular quality of light, or the patterns created by light and shade, can transform a subject which might otherwise have been thought of as mundane, into an exciting one. I paint street scenes, buildings and shops, and landscapes and harbours.
I have exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, The Royal West of England Academy in Bristol, and the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts in Exeter. I have also shown with the Bath Society of Artists, and at the Royal Bath and West Show. I have been a member of the Frome Art Society for over thirty years.
Four of my paintings are in Lord Bath's Wessex Artists Collection at Longleat House, Wiltshire.
I am available for commissions for painting people's pets and homes, and local scenes.
