About this artwork

From the 'Ascension' series. Also available as a giclee print £70
I imagine trees as sentient. If they had choice and power, they would leave. Where then would we get the air we breathe? Trees are not only our saviours but the saviours of most animals on the Earth.
I thought about coveted precious things. Gold bullion. Graphite and industry. Minerals, gem stones, precious metals. Carbon, so precious and so lethal. Human pillaging of the Earth and the short-sightedness of how human beings affect their own home, is causing great change.
I am talking about the changes I am witnessing. The ‘saviours’ and their future paradise. Who has the power to give them a future and is this still possible? All of humanity’s precious knowledge stays unlinked, politicians do not listen to scientists. Industrial scientists ignore the perils of climate change by allowing their knowledge to be used for financial gain.
When backs are turned, squabbling over baubles, the future slips away. One more question: do we have time to help all our saviours? I do not know the answer.
