This is one of four paintings in a colour texture series. I had no specific design in mind prior to painting. Originally, the four separate pieces were joined together as one but it never seemed to me, to have any continuity as a whole, so I decided to separate each area of interest. I think there's enough going on as individual pieces to support this decision.
My primary goal here was simply to explore the nature of texture in paint. I used a variety structure gels and texture paste to achieve this. I opted to mix paint and pigment through these mediums, rather than simply painting the colour over the top. The top layer of paint here was blended in situation after applying
directly to the surface.
The textures here are an indication that future works are likely to feature both texture in paint and expressive brush brushwork.
