I am a self taught artist from the North West of England and have been painting for around five years. I love to paint landscapes in oils and pastels and my subject matter comes from places I have been to on the lovely long walks (my other passion!) I go on with friends and family. I love paintings with a romantic feel and try to reflect this in the scenes I attempt to capture. I find trees and forests particularly fascinating in terms of the unique contrast of light and darkness within them.
At the moment, I paint in my kitchen or outside depending on the weather and am a member of a local art group. I am constantly learning with each painting I produce and love to view the work of as many other artists as I can as I believe it’s a great way to learn new techniques that you may not previously have thought about. The British Art Club website is a brilliant resource for this with so much to look at!
Some paintings always photograph better than others and as I use my smartphone to photograph my paintings, this may present some minor differences in how colours come out on the uploaded image as opposed to the original. It’s one of my least favourite things about sharing my work with people unfortunately!
