A watercolour portrait inspired by one of the many fascinating characters I photographed at the Whitby Goth Festival. I was particularly drawn to his striking blue eyes, traditional top hat and serious expression, which contrasted beautifully with the soft, weathered stone colours of Whitby in the background. I wanted to capture not just the costume, but something of the character and individuality that makes the Goth Festival such a wonderful event to photograph and paint.
