My work is a personal response to my environment mainly semi abstract/landscape.

I use reality as a basis for much of my work but am informed by memory and feeling. Endeavouring to tap into the 'genius loci' of the place or subject, I walk the land, sketch and take photographs which I then work on in the studio . I love colour and how the use of it can evoke a feeling or memory. I am also drawn to the energy of the land, it's past and present uses and how human beings interact with it.

I live in a beautiful remote valley, Cwm Croesor, in Snowdonia. My studio is situated on the flanks of Moelwyn Mawr, and Cnicht dominates the skyline. It is a mercurial landscape dominated by the weather. Mist, torrential rain, snow, ice, balmy sunshine all paint the landscape with their different hues and moods and inspire me constantly.
